FRATE BONAVENTURA

Dean of the convent of Carpi, Brother Bonaventura has never achieved great prestige because of his ideas, which are close to the Observant movement. Deeply influenced in his youth by the preaching of Bernardino of Siena, he carries with him a vision of the Church that does not shy away from engaging with the social and economic realities of his time. Though not an itinerant preacher, he lives the convent as a place of service and everyday justice.

Brother Bonaventura represents a Church that renews itself from within—one that does not fear contact with social and economic reality and becomes a voice for the marginalized. He is the friar who weaves not only straw, but destinies: he builds community and restores hope to those who have lost it.
