FRATE GIGLIELMO

A Franciscan friar from the convent of Bologna, Brother Guglielmo has studied mathematics, geometry, and architecture. His education has made him a refined scholar, capable of reading proportions and hidden symbolism both in the stones of churches and in the mechanisms of machines. He arrives in Carpi to measure the convent church, but his role soon expands: from observer, he becomes an active member of a group of innovators.

Brother Guglielmo embodies a new Franciscan humanism: a form of knowledge that does not remain confined to books, but is shared with the people, becoming a tool for emancipation and the common good. Within him coexist the rigor of geometry and the gentleness of listening, the precision of calculation and an openness to mystery.
